The M-65 or M-1965 Field Jacket was an upgraded replacement for the M-1951 Field Jacket. This new design led to the M-65 being the most widely used military jacket design ever. The design can found to this day in military surplus and commercial reproductions.

The M-65 Field Jacket features:

  • Four large cargo pockets

  • Adjustable draw string waist

  • Adjustable velcro wrist closures

  • Metal snap pocket closures

  • Heavy Zipper w/ snap fly front closure

  • Attatched hood hidden behind zipper in collar

  • Throat storm flap

Originally the M-65 Jacket was produced in OG-107 - a shade of green developed for Vietnam - but as it was adopted for later use it was made in other colors like Woodland Camo and 3 Color Desert.

In 2009, the M-65 Field Jacket was finally retired with the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) taking its place.
